about
The Deepwater Horizon was an oil rig that caught fire and sank in the Gulf of Mexico on 20 April 2010 after a blowout. This led to an oil spill, with about 4 million barrels of oil spilling into the sea over a period of 87 days. This had a significant impact on the environment, especially on the marine ecosystem and coastal nature. The sea and beaches were massively polluted and many animals died. The oil pollution also affected the lives and livelihoods of people in the affected coastal communities. The effects of the disaster can still be observed today, as the oil is still present in the ecosystem. This song is a reminder that something like this can happen again and again as long as we still see oil as a "cheap source of energy". We need the energy revolution now!
Nuclear fusion and renewables (solar, geothermal, wind, hydro, tidal, etc.). We have the possibilities if politics and industry would put their minds to it and people become more open to it.
